Actually, I know the reason "Keith" changed his twitter name- people like me were pointing he was using this http://twitpic.com/6e19jd as his twitter profile pic, and cc'ing the Secret Service's twitter on it. (You can see him attempting to defend it here: http://twitpic.com/6e18jz ) He then "renamed" himself to @godswordislaw, and protected his tweets whilst he deleted the evidence. http://twitpic.com/6e22y2

In the 14 days since that, he's also got caught out about whether he has 2 or 3 kids (Which strongly suggests he doesn't have any.), and he deleted a lot of posts about that too.

So, if he says anything notable- I'd recommend to get a screen grab of it before it's gone.

I didn't think so. The thing about this symposium is that it was in no way about changing any laws. The APA said that for revising the DSM, input from patient and family groups is important (but they didn't really mean it for pedophilia, because they sort of exist in a place where professional ethics don't actually apply.) The APA said that input from a diverse range of disciplines and perspectives is important (but they don't actually regard "the pedophile" as human beings, and so taking an entirely criminological approach that knows nothing about law-abiding people attracted to children is OK.) The symposium was about doing things that the APA itself said were important, but where they are ignoring their own standards.

Barber and Reismann wanted to use the symposium to advance their anti-gay agenda by promoting the slippery slope of how "the depathologization of homosexuality inevitably leads to the normalization of pedophilia--and see that's exactly what the pedophile activists are doing!"

However, the actual content and the symposium simply did not support this slippery slope argument at all, so they spread all kinds of panic-inducing falsehoods regarding what the symposium was actually about.

I've found it quite disturbing that almost no one blogging about it is giving a remotely accurate picture of what went on. And the only mischaracterization that is being challenged is the (false) claim that the APA supported the symposium.

Are you seriously taking Barber account of what the symposium was about at face value? B4U-ACT's website has a more accurate version that I would recommend taking a look at.
